Turn Video Feedback into a Revision List for the Right Cut

Drafted and reviewed using AI assistance.

On this page

A usable video revision list names the cut, the location and the exact change. Keep the reviewer's original reference, find the visible target in the intended cut, and state what must remain unchanged. If “the middle” still has no location, keep that row open.

This walkthrough includes two actual short source clips, eight complete feedback messages and a filled editable revision list. It repairs a list aimed at the wrong shot without moving unrelated notes. The clips and people are original fiction; the spoken-style note is written text, not a transcription or recorded client feedback.

A videography workflow question describes comments scattered across messages, email and voice notes. A second discussion about collecting feedback asks which channels to use. Those individual accounts motivate the task; they do not establish tool performance or time savings. If your existing versioned review comments already locate the changes clearly, use them. A simple timecoded text file can also be enough.

Open both source cuts before moving a timestamp

Both are silent, 960 × 540, constant 24 fps teaching clips made entirely from shapes and text. Each frame burns in its cut ID, frame timecode and zero-based frame index. They are review inputs: none of the proposed feedback edits has been applied. B's added intro is a version difference established before the feedback, not a revision made from it.

Visible section CUT A CUT B
Added intro Absent 00:00:00:00–00:00:02:00 / frames [0,48)

Lay out the route: orange first-bend circle, blue path, checklist and lower caption 00:00:06:00–00:00:12:00 / [144,288) 00:00:08:00–00:00:14:00 / [192,336)
Pack the kit: teal bag, FIELD NOTES label and ending title 00:00:12:00–00:00:18:00 / [288,432) 00:00:14:00–00:00:20:00 / [336,480)

All ranges in this example include IN and exclude OUT. At 24 fps, 00:00:11:12 means 11 seconds plus 12 frames: 11.5 seconds, not 11.12 seconds. Frame index equals seconds × 24 plus the final frame field. B has 480 frames numbered 0–479; 00:00:20:00 is its end boundary, while its last displayed frame is 00:00:19:23.

The authoring check decoded 432 and 480 displayed frames at 24 fps, with frame 0 at time 0. Visual inspection covered whole-duration decoded-frame contact views and the full-size location frames below. That verifies this small fixture's pictures and timing; it does not measure a client's review workflow.

The same clock time can show another shot

CUT A at 00:00:06:00, frame 144, shows the map and orange circle:

CUT A at 06:00 shows Lay out the route, with orange first-bend circle.

CUT B at the same 00:00:06:00, also frame 144, still shows the two kit cards:

CUT B at 06:00 shows Choose a kit, with no orange first-bend marker.

The corresponding map moment in B is 00:00:08:00, frame 192:

CUT B at 08:00 shows the map and orange circle.

You can skim the whole A sequence and whole B sequence at one decoded frame per second. Use the clips and full-size frames for a precise location; the overview is not a replacement for the original source.

Keep the complete notes, including the correction

These are all the authored messages. N03 imitates the wording of a voice note, but no recording or transcription system produced it. N06/N07 are a complete fictional clarification exchange; there is no omitted reply that settles N04.

N01 — Mira, written feedback
Cut B, IN 00:00:10:00 OUT 00:00:11:12: shorten the lower blue caption from
"A SMALL PLAN, READY TO TRY." to "MAKE A SMALL PLAN." in just that range.
Keep its blue box, the checklist and the map unchanged. Keep the duration.

N02 — Sol, written visual reference
In Cut B's first "Choose a kit" shot, enlarge the MAP word on the blue card
at the left by 10 percent. Only that word: keep the card, its map icon, the
NOTES card, other text and shot duration unchanged. Apply through that shot.

N03 — Mira, authored spoken-style note, NOT a transcription
Cut B at twelve seconds — no, sorry, fourteen seconds. When "Pack the kit"
starts, make the FIELD NOTES label on the bag white through the rest of that
shot. Only the label color, not the bag. Keep its words, size and position.
The fourteen-second reference replaces my twelve-second reference.

N04 — Sol, vague written feedback
Cut B, the middle feels slow. Trim it a little.

N05 — Mira, explicitly referring to the OLD cut
I'm looking at Cut A, IN 00:00:06:00 OUT 00:00:08:00. Remove the orange
circle on the first bend of the map in that range. Keep the blue route line
and everything else unchanged.

N06 — Editor, complete authored clarification question
For N05, do you mean the same first-bend orange circle in Cut B at IN
00:00:08:00 OUT 00:00:10:00, rather than B at 00:00:06:00–00:00:08:00?
Those B clock ranges show different shots. N04 still needs its own location:
which visible event and exact IN/OUT should be trimmed, and by how much?
Please keep those two answers separate.

N07 — Mira, complete authored fictional reply
Yes, for N05 use Cut B IN 00:00:08:00 OUT 00:00:10:00 and the orange circle
at the first bend of the map. For N05 only, remove it in that range; keep
all other B content unchanged by this edit. I am only confirming N05's
location, not changing other notes. I am not clarifying N04's "middle"
note, and this reply is not final sign-off on the cut.

N08 — Sol, explicit preservation note
Cut B, the "Pack the kit" shot from 00:00:14:00 to 00:00:20:00: keep the
bag's position and KEEP EXPLORING ending title unchanged. Add no transition.
This does not withdraw N03's label-color request.

The complete feedback and timebase packet also includes both scene maps, the input convention and the still-open question.

N02 names a unique visible shot and element: the MAP word on the left blue card in B's first Choose a kit shot. That lets the list use the actual B shot range [48,192). It does not justify changing the whole card or its map icon.

N03 withdraws twelve seconds and replaces it with fourteen seconds. B at 12 seconds still shows the map; the bag begins at 14 seconds. Preserve the correction and the label-only change. This is not permission to recolor the bag or the ending title.

CUT B at 14:00 shows the FIELD NOTES label on the teal bag and the ending title.

N04 is different. “The middle feels slow” supplies a cut and a concern, but no precise event, range or amount to remove. Do not turn the middle of a 20-second clip into an invented 10-second edit point. N07 expressly leaves that note unanswered.

Inspect a complete wrong list

The following full list is a deliberately authored counterexample, not captured AI output. Its N01 row expands a caption request across the entire cut. Its N05 row keeps A's clock range while targeting B. All other rows are already bounded and must survive the repair.

The full wrong CSV retains the original source-cut fields as well as those wrong target fields. Each row stays attached to its feedback ID N01–N08.

The problem with N05 is visible, not just a column-label error. Its wrong B[144,192) range contains the kit cards. The orange first-bend circle is in the following map shot. N07 confirms B[192,240) for that specific request. Keep N05's original source as A[144,192), and cite the clarification beside the B target.

This particular version has a 48-frame intro shift for the shared shots. That is not a reason to add 48 to every comment. Most notes already name B; a different edit could also change only part of a sequence. Use the cut, visible target and explicit clarification together.

Make the repair narrow, then return the entire list

Use this filled request with both clips, the complete feedback packet and the wrong CSV:

Prepare a revision list, not an edited video, using the supplied original
CUT A and CUT B MP4 files, frame images and the full review packet below.
Target CUT B. The clips and reviewer messages are original fiction. N03 is
authored spoken-style text, not an actual voice transcription.

Use each clip's burned-in cut ID and 24 fps non-drop HH:MM:SS:FF. The frame
origin is zero and every range is IN inclusive / OUT exclusive. Read the
actual frames around each relevant location; if you cannot view them, say
which locations are unread rather than claim a visual match.

Repair the COMPLETE WRONG CSV below and return every row N01-N08 as a full
editable CSV and readable list. Include stable note ID, all source message
IDs, original source cut/range, target cut/range/frames, visible target,
requested change, preservation clause, after-edit check and state.

N01 changes only the lower caption in B [240,276), not all on-screen text.
N05 originally refers to A [144,192); N07 separately confirms its B target
as [192,240). Preserve the old source attribution. Do not offset the other
notes, which already refer to B. Only N01 and N05 rows need repair; preserve
every field of N02/N03/N04/N06/N07/N08 exactly from the wrong CSV.

Keep N03's explicit correction from 12 seconds to 14 seconds and its label-only
color request. Keep N04's frame/time cells blank: N07 explicitly does not
answer it. List the remaining question for N04. N06 is a question, N07 a
clarification and N08 a preservation constraint; do not create duplicate
edits or invent final approval from them.

Return the complete repaired list, the exact changed rows/fields and the
unresolved question. Do not edit or overwrite clips, retime the sequence,
change unrelated text/colors, contact anyone, add an owner/deadline, upload
files or claim a model/customer trial. READY_FOR_EDIT means only a proposed
located edit; it does not mean implemented or approved.

The complete request file combines that instruction, the full input inventory, every authored message and the whole wrong CSV. Supply the listed clip/frame files with it; the text file cannot stand in for unseen pictures. It contains no corrected CSV answer.

Only two rows change:

Row Wrong scope/location Repaired scope/location
N01 All titles/captions across B[0,480). Only the lower blue caption in B[240,276), changing its text to MAKE A SMALL PLAN. Keep the box, other elements, duration and original wording outside the range.
N05 Old A time copied directly to B[144,192). Keep source A[144,192); target B[192,240), confirmed by N07. Remove only the orange circle there, preserving the blue path and unrelated material.

N02/N03/N04/N06/N07/N08 are unchanged in every CSV field. N07 is evidence for N05, not a second removal action. N08 is a preservation constraint, not a cancellation of N03. No row becomes completed or approved.

Use the complete repaired revision list

At B 00:00:10:00, frame 240, the original lower caption remains visible below the checklist. N01 changes that caption only through frame 275. Frame 276—the exclusive OUT point—must retain the original caption under this request.

CUT B at 10:00 shows the source lower caption targeted by N01.

A READY_FOR_EDIT_NOT_APPLIED row means the requested change has a supported target in this teaching plan. It does not say the change has been made. The supplied MP4s still contain the original caption, marker and dark bag label. Implementing the list and reviewing a new cut would be separate work.

The remaining question

For N04, ask Sol: Which visible event in Cut B should be shorter, what are its IN and OUT, and how much should be removed? Until an answer is supplied, keep the timecode/frame cells blank and do not trim. Mira's N07 does not answer Sol's note and is not final sign-off.

Check the list against the pictures

Before editing, return to each located range with the correct cut visible. After a proposed edit is actually made, check both the requested change and its preservation clause: the blue path for N05, the caption's outside frames for N01, and the bag/title for N03/N08.

These are suggested second-reader checks, not performed reader trials:

Check Expected distinction Actual observation Result
Open A06:00 and B06:00. Map in A; kit cards in B. Equal clocks do not identify equal content.
Follow N05 through N06/N07. Original A range remains recorded; confirmed B target is 08:00–10:00. Other B notes do not move.
Follow N03's self-correction. 14 seconds replaces 12; only FIELD NOTES text color changes in the final shot.
Try locating N04. Exact location and trim amount remain unknown; no guessed frame range.

For your next review, collect the existing messages in one versioned list, keep the original references, and separate located edits from unresolved questions. Ask for the missing location when the pictures and notes cannot supply it. Keep the finished plan inspectable, with located edits and unresolved questions clearly separated.
